Engagements at Lempaala
Battle Report:
At 11:00 hours, elements of the 27. Jager Regiment and 2nd Deutscher Leichte Infanterie volunteers launched an attack on a town near Lempaala en route to Tampere. Opposing forces consisting of the 2nd Jagers (a Russian army regiment that mutinied to the Communists) assisted by the Tornio Rifle Force (a group of irregular Red militia). Initially engagements consisted of the seizure of a house and its compound from where a base of command was established. It was then used as a staging point for attacks on a Communist-held town across the river. The initial attack took heavy losses due to sniper activity and the Jagers and their German allies were forced to retreat across the river and back to our trenches from where they held out against Russian attacks until reinforcements could arrive.
With reinforcements a second attack was made on the town, and after a difficult melee the town was secured by a narrow margin.
Friendly forces responded by withdrawing to the compound house and held out against Russian attacks, barricading the entrances and digging sandbags. The Red attack was disorganized and their assault on the house was met with prompt failure. A third attack was made by White forces on to the town, but the Reds once again held firm. However, their losses were so heavy and the White reinforcements expected so numerous that they were forced to withdraw and hand the town over to advancing White forces.

The 27. Jager Regiment and 2nd Deutscher Leichte Infanterie volunteers pursued withdrawing Communist forces to another village. The Russians made their stand at around 19:00 hours and dug into the town. White forces were tasked with driving the Communists out. Our first attacks were made with some success in seizing the village, and after a difficult close-quarters battle we won before the Communists pushed White forces out.
In the second ordered attack, the 27. Jagers flanked around the village to the north while the Germans attacked through the center. Both sides were met with losses.
A third and final attack was made where White light infantry again attacked the village. The Reds were pushed from the town and north towards a creek where heavy fighting ensued. Despite artillery support, friendly forces could not defeat the Communists and a strategic withdrawal was ordered. Neither side could gain the second town.
Currently the army encamped in the village taken earlier in the day. These is no word on when the 27. Jager Regiment commander Everst. Randall will get better - he was absent from the fighting and moved to a triage center because he was experiencing a high fever and was deemed unfit to command temporarily. Command was handed over to Yltn. Hoggard and Ltn. Turska, who both performed to the best of their ability in Everst. Randall's absence.

Get well soon, commander.
A sentry stands watch waiting for the Reds to launch an attack.
Despite these setbacks, victory will be ours! Long live Finland!
