We have 3 basic guiding principles for our unit:

Professionalism, we do not act idiotically, we fight properly in game following rules and with respect to other players and groups.

Gaming, we realise this is all a game and are not delusional, we are enjoying it in our own way as we like the community of having a clan but do not take everything too seriously, we all can have a laugh and are not always serious during trainings and such, we are here to enjoy ourselves, whilst aiming as a group to succeed.

Community, this is after all a community, the rank system is in place because we more or less all enjoy military history but more significantly because it gives a fair system for members of the Battalion who have contributed and been in the group a long time. However, while we have a rank system it is not strictly adhered to, we think of ranks more as 'roles' than 'positions of power', all members of our group get a fair say in decisions, and those who have earned the position of 'Officer' or 'NCO' do get a fair amount more influence and we have a founding system behind this.

History of the Jager Movement

We are founded based upon the Finnish Jager Movement during the Finnish Civil War which emerged out of the Royal Prussian 27th Jäger Battalion, the battalion formed in 1915, made up entirely of Finnish volunteers who escaped Russian occupied Finland with the intention of liberating Finland from the Empire. The volunteers were trained in Germany and became part of the German Army, they fought in battles on the Eastern Front during WW1. Once Finland declared independence they returned to their homeland and became even more famous for the battalion's service in the Finnish Civil War fighting for the anti-Communist Civil Guard ('Whites') following Monarchist/Liberal ideologies against the Bolshevik-backed Communist Red Guard. The Jagers were later engaged in the 3 wars of Finland between 1939 - 1945 against the USSR invasion and their attempts to reclaim taken land (during WW2 falling under the name Kymi Jääkäripataljoona), the Finnish Jagers still exist today under the name of the Kaarti jääkärit (Jager Guards).

History of our Group

'The 27th Jager Battalion' goes back a long way, we were established as a WW1: Source realism unit on the 10th of June, 2010 by the founding members (Randall, Hakala, Stern and Collins). We remained in WW1: Source awaiting the release of Verdun for almost 1 year operating with our friends the 3rd Marines and 105., as well as a couple of other realism units to keep the mod going before the Battalion was forced to disband used to the mod's community slowing to a point where unit activities were almost impossible. However, since then many members have missed the glory of the 27., and sought to reform it in a new WW1 mod, and that is when we began to establish in IE. Now, several veterans and friends of the old '27th Jager Battalion' have restablished as the '27. Jääkäripataljoona' for IE. We are welcoming both veterans and new volunteers to join us.

Our Group Today

As a result of our long history as a group of friends, while we have adapted for Iron Europe we've brought with us some habits from WW1: Source, some of which are just a laugh, some of which are actually kind of practical of, such as: - Asking each Recruit 3 questions about the history of the Jagers before they get promoted, if they get any wrong they are shot in the face and have their corpse abused. - The use of Finnish as well as English in titles etc., partially because it's accurate and also because when we were in WW1: Source we had many Finnish members with poor English skills (such as Kersantti Michael, who's English was just awful). - Our unique ranking system based of practicality for roles in WW1, and Finnish paramilitary (White Army) ranks. - Our willingness to explore and play in other games, and compete in them as well as where we are based, we are open to matches in RnL, DoDS, BG2 and of course WW1: Source, all of which we came from as a community. - Our system of running the clan which is fairly relaxed, has a low tolerance for clan drama stirred up by obsessive morons, and is somewhat democratic while maintaining our professionalism and group organisation.
